All About E-Learning

When you look at e-learning what do you see?

Over the last couple of years, the industry has been telling us that they see boring online learning that has limited interactivity, is confusing to use, is unprofessional and is unable to convey the learning content. iPal Interactive Learning was created in order to change that.

If you are wondering why e-learning was so poorly developed in the past and why it is still being poorly developed with most of the larger learning companies, let us shed some light on the subject.

Technology does play a huge factor in the development of an effective online learning program and the reality is that the technology was not readily available to everyone until recent years. That is not to say that the technology is the solution, but it does provide the means for being able to create an effective solution.

The e-learning industry is changing for the better and iPal is helping shape the way.

Their products are designed to effectively engage the learner and their work is thorough - they do not cut corners in their production, delivering more than what is expected and agreed. Finally, they have demonstrated sensitivity to international cultures, an important factor for the development of training solutions for IATA training customers."

Q: Do I have to have my own content and imagery?

A: In order to plan the structure of your course, iPal requires documentation; whether it’s a PDF manual, a word document or a PowerPoint presentation, we will work with your SME's (subject matter experts) to make sure your content translates to an online environment. Imagery is always welcome; however, if you do not have any, iPal can develop graphics or models to support your learning material.

Q: Can I choose my own avatar?

A: Yes. iPal has a vast library of different avatars characters that range in age, gender, occupation and ethnicity.

Q: Can your courses be tracked?

A: Yes. Our courses are SCORM compliant, which means they can be integrated into an LMS system.

Q: What is an LMS? Do I have to have one?

A: LMS stands for Learning Management System. It is a software application for the purpose of documenting and tracking the learners results of e-learning courses. iPal can provide with an LMS if you require one.

Q: Can I have more than one course tied together within a LMS?

A: Yes. iPal is able to set-up your courses into modules that link together through a ‘Predecessor/Successor’ relationship. This relationship will ensure that your learners are able to follow the correct learning path.

Q: I want an e-course developed. How to I start the process?

A: The first step is to connect with an iPal Client Representative, after which you will be provided with a document to review and complete. This ‘Requirements’ document will walk you through a process that will help iPal better understand what you are looking for and what you have available to support the development of your e-learning program. » Contact Us

Q: How much does a course cost to develop?

A: There are so many factors required in order to be able to provide you with an accurate quote. iPal will need to take into consideration your content size (number of pages), types of interactions to be developed, animations, learning activities, whether or not you require an instructional designer, how many avatars you might require, LMS requirements and much more. Contact an iPal Client Representative to get a quote. » Contact Us

Q: How can e-learning benefit me as an instructor?

A: We hear this question quite often. E-learning is a great benefit for an instructor to be able to enhance their learning programs. For example: When you teach, how sure are you that each student has understood your materials? With e-learning, you can easily create what is called “Blended’ learning that could start off by assessing your learning. Based on positive results, your learners would pass through the modules without having to take any additional lessons. If the learner however fails the assessment, a refresher lesson populates and the learner is provided with additional support. Check out iPal’s Blended learning article for more information on this subject. » Read Article
